Located near the borders of Kenya and South Sudan, the valley is part of the Great Rift Valley and is known for its stunning landscapes, including the Omo River, savannas, and national parks like Mago and Omo National Park. The area’s remote location has preserved the traditional lifestyles of its tribes, such as the Benna, Karo, Hamer, and Mursi, who are known for their unique customs, body adornments, and ways of life.

Day 1 | Fly to Jinka – Benna Village – Turmi
- Arrival in Jinka: Upon your arrival at Jinka Airport, we will meet and have lunch together in Jinka town.
- Drive to Turmi: After lunch, we’ll drive to Turmi, stopping at Alduba to visit a Benna tribal village. The Benna are part of the Hamar-Bashada cultural group, known for their unique traditions. With a population of around 35,000, they are mainly farmers. During the dry season, some Benna enter Mago National Park to hunt, and a successful buffalo hunt leads to celebrations adorned with clay body decorations.
- Continue to Turmi: After visiting the Benna, we’ll drive to Turmi for an overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 2 | Turmi – Karo Tribe – Hamer Tribe – Jinka
- Morning Drive to Karo Tribe: After breakfast, we will head to the Karo tribe, who live near the Omo River. The Karo are renowned for their intricate body painting and have a population of around 8,000. They are agro-pastoralists and sometimes fish from the Omo River.
- Return to Turmi for Lunch: After visiting the Karo tribe, we will return to Turmi for lunch.
- Visit the Hamer Tribe: After lunch, we will visit the Hamer tribe, known for their unique body decorations and clothing styles. Hamer women wear leather skirts decorated with cowrie shells, and their hair is styled with ochre. The tribe’s territory covers a large area in South Omo, and their language belongs to the Omotic language family.
- Drive Back to Jinka: After exploring the Hamer culture, we’ll drive back to Jinka for an overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 3 | Jinka – Mursi Tribe – Jinka Airport
- Visit the Mursi Tribe: After breakfast, we’ll drive to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe. Known for their striking lip plate tradition, Mursi women stretch their lower lips with clay discs, with the size of the plate determining the bride price. The Mursi number around 5,000 and are pastoralists, belonging to the Nilo-Saharan language family.
- Wildlife on the Way: On our way back to Jinka, we might encounter some wildlife in the park.
- Coffee and Transfer to Jinka Airport: After returning to Jinka, we’ll enjoy a coffee before your transfer to Jinka Airport for your departure.
Booking & Payment: A deposit is required to confirm your booking. Full payment is due prior to the tour start date.
Cancellations: Free cancellation up to 30 days before departure. Cancellations within 30 days will incur a fee.
