Day 1: Departure from Semera to Lake Afrera
- Leave Semera early in the morning after breakfast.
- Drive towards Lake Afrera, situated on the eastern edge of the Danakil Depression.
- Enjoy the scenic journey through the arid plains and volcanic landscapes of the Afar Region.
- Reach Afdera and have lunch before continuing the drive to Hamed Ela, where you'll set up camp.
- Along the way, observe traditional salt mining activities and appreciate the stark beauty of the desert.
- In the evening, enjoy dinner under the night sky.
Day 2: Exploration of Dallol and Ertale Volcano
- Start the day early to explore Dallol's unique landscape featuring vibrant hydrothermal springs, salt formations, and volcanic features.
- Proceed to Dodom, serving as a base for further exploration of the Danakil Depression.
- En route, make stops to observe salt flats and other points of interest.
- Arrive at Dodom in the late afternoon and set up camp.
- In the late afternoon, embark on a 30-minute hike to the Erta Ale active volcano, renowned for its lava lake.
Day 3: Return Journey to Semera
- After breakfast, begin the journey back to Semera.
- Stop by Lake Afrera for some relaxation, perhaps even taking a swim.
- Take in the rugged beauty of the Afar Region once more as you travel back.
- Arrive in Semera by late afternoon or early evening, concluding the trip or continuing onward to other destinations in Ethiopia.
